OpenCar Adds Support for Microsoft Windows in Latest SDK Release
Version 2.0 to accelerate growth of popular automotive infotainment framework

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Automotive software tools provider OpenCar released version 2.0 of their popular automotive Software Development Kit (SDK) at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The latest OpenCar SDK now enables automakers, tier 1s and independent developers to build infotainment applications using Microsoft Windows workstations. Version 2.0 of the OpenCar SDK is available for Windows, Mac and Linux users today on OpenCar's collaboration and management portal, InsideTrack (http://insidetrack.opencar.com).

OpenCar Simulator in Windows 10

The OpenCar SDK is a powerful development environment used to build telematics and entertainment applications and features for connected automotive infotainment systems. The SDK provides automotive APIs, desktop simulators and testing tools to create highly portable applications that easily integrate with each automaker's unique graphical, touch and voice interaction requirements. OpenCar also abstracts each vehicle's unique sensor network, greatly simplifying the integration of vehicle and driver data with various cloud services.

"The InsideTrack portal already has over 1000 registered users from hundreds of companies including leading automakers, tier 1s and content providers," said OpenCar CEO, Jeff Payne. "Our goal is to ensure InsideTrack remains the leading collaboration and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) management system for the connected car development community. By adding Windows to our existing Mac and Linux SDKs and cross-platform virtual environments, we expect to see substantially greater adoption in coming months."

The OpenCar platform includes an application framework, application development tools and the InsideTrack collaboration portal. These products combine to streamline the design, coding, QA, certification, distribution, and maintenance of software from concept to end-of-life. With this week's release of the OpenCar SDK version 2.0, the OpenCar Simulator now supports downloadable plugins, allowing automakers and integrators to build and securely share their drive files, simulated bezels, screens and haptic devices, and sample code with developers. These freely available tools enable over-the-air distribution and maintenance of dynamic automotive infotainment applications, satisfying a critical expectation for buyers of connected cars.
