Celeno Quicksilver 802.11ac Wave 2 is Now Available on STMicroelectronics' DOCSIS® 3.1 Platform to Deliver Multi-Gbps Wi-Fi Service in the Home
Solution based on RDK-B framework and integrates Celeno's ControlAIR™ Multi-AP management software

LAS VEGAS, January 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Celeno Communications, a leading provider of high-performance Wi-Fi chips and software for demanding home-networking applications, today announced a Cable Gateway reference design developed together with STMicroelectronics, where Celeno's CL2440 standards-based 4x4 802.11ac Wave 2 is fully integrated with ST's STiD325 (Barcelona) DOCSIS® 3.1 chip. The solution is targeted to help Cable Operators deliver flawless multi-Gbps services at home with a super-fast Wi-Fi and unique QoS capabilities.

The Celeno technology offers four times higher speeds than the previous generation by supporting four simultaneous streams, three concurrent Multi-User devices, and 80MHz and 160 MHz Wi-Fi channels. ARGUS spectrum intelligence technology, OptimizAIR™ 2.0 QoS and Virtual Wi-Fi technology creates smarter Wi-Fi. To truly unleash multi-Gbps Wi-Fi services in the home, Celeno embedded its newly announced ControlAIR™ multi-AP management software in the ST STiD325 (Barcelona) DOCSIS 3.1 platform. This allows cable operators to increase capacity, coverage and speed of Wi-Fi when adding smart companion Wi-Fi Access Points, Repeaters or Extenders in the home.

ControlAIR is the industry's only effective software solution to orchestrate multiple APs to increase throughput by adding smart cluster connectivity and dynamic Radio Resource Management (RRM) addressing the move towards a "small cell" Wi-Fi network  or "Sprinklers" architecture for the wireless home of tomorrow. The ControlAIR software enables wireless home networks to offer vastly improved coverage, expanded capacity and speeds that consistently exceed one Gigabit per second. ControlAir also allows increased power efficiency and less induced interference on adjacent networks.

"The ST DOCSIS 3.1 Platform together with the Celeno 4x4 802.11ac Wave 2 radio creates a high-performance Cable Gateway solution that provides fast and robust Wi-Fi services in the home," said Lior Weiss, VP Marketing at Celeno. "Integrating Celeno's ControlAIR multi-AP cluster management software will allow cable operators to successfully add Wi-Fi companion devices in the home and offer optimized speeds and coverage to their subscribers."

"Integrating the Celeno solution with ST's Barcelona DOCSIS® 3.1 chip allows MSOs to benefit from the multi-gigabit wireless bandwidth for a greater comfort of usage at home," said Thomas Meyer, Manager of the Headless Product Line, Consumer Product Division at STMicroelectronics. "We believe this reference platform will provide a great advantage to our customers in their ongoing cable-gateway designs."

The integrated solution will be showcased in the Celeno suite at the Venetian hotel at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
