LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile device users are ready to power up with wireless charging, but many device manufacturers – including Apple – are waiting until the war over competing charging standards (Qi vs. PMA) is resolved. In the meantime, most consumers remain tethered to their power cords.
Los Angeles-based BEZALEL is determined to help end the reliance on power cords via new wireless charging technology that will be previewed this week at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
Products at BEZALEL's CES booth (Sands Expo Center, Hall G #81355) include the first universal (i.e., dual-standard or dual-mode) wireless charging case for the iPhone. Called the Latitude, this one-of-a-kind case enables iPhone users to power up wirelessly using any charger that employs either the Qi or PMA charging standard.
"The latest iPhones are packed with features, but wireless charging isn't one of them," said BEZALEL CEO and Co-Founder Frank Wu. "The Latitude case enables iPhone users to use any wireless charger, whether it's a PMA charging mat at Starbucks or a Qi-based charger built into the center console of a Toyota."
With its universal compatibility, the Latitude powers up the iPhone at all public places and in all products that offer wireless charging. The number of such locations and products is growing rapidly. Those currently using the QI standard include McDonalds, IKEA (select furniture) and Toyota/Lexus vehicles; those using PMA include Starbucks, Delta Airlines and select GM vehicles.
"The Latitude is the first and only wireless charging solution that doesn't make iPhone users pick a side in the war over competing standards," added Wu.
The Latitude made its debut on Kickstarter last year, and is now available for pre-sale on the BEZALEL website (http://bezalel.co/pages/latitude). It will soon be available widely via Amazon, as well as through retail partners internationally. It comes in black and white for the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus, and includes a durable Lightning cable connector that lets users synch and charge their iPhone the old fashioned way. The cost is $49.90 for iPhone 6/6s and $59.90 for iPhone 6 Plus/6s Plus.
At CES, BEZALEL will also feature its flagship Prelude fully-mobile (rechargeable) wireless charger, as well as its new Qi wireless charging pad (5V -2A USB Input, Size: 100 x 10mm), both of which power up a range of mobile devices - from smartphones and tablets to wearables.
