LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sound United, a company that supports and curates a diverse portfolio of audio brands, today announced updates to its Polk Audio Omni and Definitive Technology Wireless Collections at CES 2016. Continuing to grow its footprint in the sound bar and whole-home, wireless audio categories, both brands have announced new wireless rear streaming capabilities for an even more immersive and streamlined home theater experience. Additionally, Polk Audio and Definitive Technology have added Amazon Prime to their music service lineup joining other leading music services such as Pandora, Spotify, and SIRIUSXM. Polk Audio has also added two new generation products—the Omni SB1 Plus sound bar and Omni A1 Plus amplifier—to its Omni Collection, including innovative new features that are in high-demand across the entire audio landscape. Moreover, the Omni Collection now includes Bluetooth® connectivity in its leading sound bar, the Omni SB1 Plus, and in the Omni S2R, allowing consumers to use the speaker in the home as a multi-room speaker or on the go.
"Our roots are firmly planted in great-sounding audio and we see an incredible opportunity to integrate our wireless products within the home theater experience," said Kevin Duffy, President of Sound United. "In today's wireless world, customers want to enjoy surround sound without the clutter of wires, which is why we are adding wireless rear speakers to our product offering. We've listened to their needs, adding new capabilities in our next generation products as well as updating our software to offer countless possibilities when incorporating speakers beyond simply listening to music."
Pushing the Limits of Home Theater Surround and Wireless Music Listening
Continuing to evolve its leading position in the home theater and wireless music space, Polk Audio is confident that its latest updates to the Omni Collection will give consumers better and more advanced ways to enjoy a wide range of sound. The Omni SB1 Plus ($699) is a re-engineered version of the original Omni Collection SB1 sound bar—now with the addition of Bluetooth connectivity. It provides re-streaming capabilities, letting users connect devices directly to the speaker via a 3.5mm jack and re-stream audio content to other wireless speakers within the Omni Collection. It also supports wireless surround sound, leveraging the use of two Omni S2 or S2R speakers, or a single Omni S6 speaker as wireless surround(s) for a more immersive home theater experience. Lastly, the Omni SB1 Plus features patent pending VoiceAdjust™ technology—Polk's proprietary dialogue-enhancing technology that lets consumers isolate and adjust the voice channel to reproduce clear, crisp vocal dialogue for movies, TV shows and sporting events—Dolby Digital surround decoding, and it comes with a powerful wireless subwoofer.
The Polk Audio Omni S2R ($249.95) now also features Bluetooth connectivity, providing even more options to stream audio wirelessly. This flexible indoor or outdoor portable speaker holds up to eight hours of battery life and includes premium DTS Play-Fi multi-room streaming. Lastly, the Omni A1 Plus ($299) wireless amplifier now supports re-streaming, and has a built-in Ethernet jack and wired IR extension port. The updated Omni SB1 Plus will be available in March; its wireless surround sound feature will be available in the spring via a software update. Both the Omni S2R with Bluetooth and Omni A1 Plus will be available in April.
Definitive Technology's newest sound bar, the W Studio Micro bar will also support wireless rear surrounds beginning in the spring. The software update allows the Wireless Collection W7 and W9 speakers to pair with the sound bar and act as left and right rear channels within a home theater setup, providing an exhilarating surround listening experience, without the wires.
Prime Time for Music Services
As an update to the DTS Play-Fi list of music services, Amazon Prime Music is now available to stream on Polk Audio's Omni Collection and Definitive Technology's Wireless Collection. Amazon Prime members can choose to stream from any of the thousands of Prime Playlists and Stations available on Prime Music through Polk Audio and Definitive Technology's apps on iOS and Android at no additional cost to their membership. Amazon Prime Music joins dozens of popular music services including Pandora, Spotify, Tidal, SIRIUS XM and many more.
