LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Foodnome, the platform leading the grass roots revolution of home permitted restaurants, will be featured at CES 2019. The platform brings home cooks and diners together and allows them to easily explore diverse cuisines in their local community.

"A lot of home cooks have really unique food ideas that aren't represented in normal restaurants," Akshay Prabhu, founder of Foodnome, said of his friends preparing meals from places like Zimbabwe and Northern China. "There's a lot of food traditions and cultures that are dying out and it's because of lack of opportunity, not lack of ideas." Prabhu has first-hand experience as a home cook. "I used to do a taco Tuesday and make the tortillas and meat from scratch," Prabhu said. "They were great events with people from all walks of life."

Not everyone was on board with the concept of home restaurants, specifically local California officials. As a result, Prabhu created and lobbied for Homemade Food Operations Act, AB-626. Thanks to Prabhu's hard work the bill was passed. As of January 1, 2019 it is now legal for home permitted restaurants to serve food.

California Assembly Member, Eduardo Garcia, who authored the bill, says that homemade food sales are a vital part of self-reliant communities. "Legitimizing these home businesses will offer a means of economic empowerment and pathways for many to achieve the 'American dream,'" Garcia said when the bill was signed.

Foodnome will be featured at CES 2019 at Booth 52772 within Eureka Park.
