The Advanced Ordnance Training Materials (AOTM) program is honored in the Tech For A Better World product category. AOTM has created the next generation of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training products; changing the state of the art to improve resources for bomb disposal training worldwide. AOTM products are manufactured using additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies.

The Advanced Ordnance Training Materials (AOTM) Program is a collaborative design initiative catalyzed by the Golden West Humanitarian Foundation Design Lab and faculty from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Startup funding for the AOTM program was provided by the U.S. Department of State, Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement, with the purpose of improving the quality of training materials available to humanitarian mine clearance / unexploded ordnance disposal personnel worldwide.

"Our product design lab leverages emerging technologies to create innovative products for the humanitarian bomb disposal sector. The AOTM product is an early example of how 3D printing has enabled the creation of products never before possible. Our team is humbled to receive the CES 2016 Innovation Award and will continue working to create innovative products which help bomb personnel do their jobs more safely and efficiently."Allen Dodgson Tan, Director of Applied Technology, Golden West Humanitarian Foundation.

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the producer of CES 2016, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market. CES 2016 Innovation Honoree products are featured on CESweb.org/Innovation, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
