AccuWeather Unveils Award-Winning Android App via Ford SYNC AppLink at CES 2017
AccuWeather Android app users can now stay connected in-car to the latest hyper-local weather forecast information with Superior Accuracy to keep them safe while in route.

AccuWeather Global Weather Center – January 6, 2017 AccuWeather, the global leader in weather information and digital media, today announced its award-winning Android app is now available through AppLink™ on the Ford SYNC® 3 in-car communications and entertainment system. The AccuWeather Android app helps drivers plan and time their trips, warns them in advance of inclement weather, and provides timely weather conditions for safer and better travels. The AccuWeather iOS app is also integrated with the Ford SYNC 3 in-car system, providing the most accurate, actionable weather forecasts and warnings in the world to users across leading mobile app platforms.

AccuWeather and Ford have partnered together for the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada to display the AccuWeather app on iOS at the Ford satellite booth location, directly outside of the North Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  AccuWeather staff and a Ford specialist are on-site with live demonstrations of the Ford AppLink, showcasing AccuWeather app features and benefits from a Ford Fusion vehicle.

With AppLink on SYNC 3, drivers can seamlessly operate the AccuWeather App using voice commands or buttons on the vehicle display screen, keeping their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. SYNC 3 is offered on all 2017 model-year Ford cars, SUVs, light trucks, and electric vehicles.

Available for customers with Ford SYNC 3-equipped vehicles, the app features patented AccuWeather MinuteCast®, the world’s leading minute-by-minute precipitation forecast hyper-localized to a user’s exact street address or GPS location, providing forecast updates with Superior Accuracy™ for the next two hours.  MinuteCast includes the type, intensity, start times, and end times for precipitation, and is available for a growing list of countries worldwide including the Continental United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Scandinavia, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, and parts of the Czech Republic.

With a tap of the screen, users simply speak to request their weather information, and it is displayed on the vehicle’s Ford SYNC 3 touch screen. AccuWeather also provides additional weather information with Superior Accuracy, such as pushed severe weather alerts to keep drivers safe, daily forecasts including high and low temperatures for the day, and local summary forecasts which concisely present what to expect over the next 3-5 days for a user’s exact location.

“AccuWeather is pleased to be invited to showcase our brand with Ford’s SYNC 3 at CES 2017,” said Steven Smith, President of Digital Media at AccuWeather. “We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate AccuWeather’s life-saving impact through our innovative products one-on-one with users throughout the show.  Now, with our expanded connected car reach to Android users, more Ford SYNC 3 users can benefit from the most accurate, personalized, and localized weather information with Superior Accuracy worldwide that AccuWeather exclusively provides.”
