The TouchPoint Solution Partners with Singer/Songwriter Ashanti and NFL Giants Players to Bring Awareness to the Anxiety Epidemic
With the help of Singing for Superheroes, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and Phoenix Program to reduce the stigma around anxiety

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Anxiety is the most common mental illness, affecting 40 million Americans. Ashanti, Singing for Superheroes, NFL Giants' players Michael Thomas and BJ Goodson, anxiety-relieving wearable company The TouchPoint Solution, and the Phoenix Program, released the song "I Know (What It Feels Like)" to remove the stigma surrounded anxiety. Currently, less than 40% receive treatment. Anxiety affects everyone differently and a staggering 71% of musical artists report they have suffered from high levels of anxiety.

Ashanti shared, "Sometimes when there's a lot going on, be it in career, personal life or things in general… I'll wake up with my stomach in knots," Ashanti said. "This is especially hard for kids. 'I Know' was written to illuminate the fact that when you are plagued with anxiety, you aren't alone. Over 25 percent of teenagers struggle with mild to moderate anxiety, much of which is brought on by cyber-bullying, intense peer pressure, homework, and hormones. Anxiety is something everyone faces. The song aims to take away the taboo of sharing your feelings."

The "I Know" video highlights a teenager suffering from anxiety and shows the Singing for Superheroes team sharing stress-relieving devices called TouchPoints. "My 4-year-old daughter struggled with anxiety and TouchPoints helped her tremendously. I wanted to share options for anxiety that aren't medication," says co-founder and CEO Vicki Mayo of The TouchPoint Solution. Co-founder Dr. Amy Serin added, "Anxiety is misunderstood, mistreated, and unfortunately it's on the rise in children and teens. We want to de-stigmatize anxiety and reduce suffering by starting the conversation and letting people know there is hope to end the cycle of stress."

To encourage participation in raising awareness after the initial launch, the collaborative team has teamed up with the Anxiety & Depression Association of America to create the #MyAnxietyIs social media challenge. The challenge involves a person sitting in front of a camera with message boards in hand, silently sharing their anxiety story through the boards. I Know plays in the background and one by one, the message boards are flipped over as the person stares soulfully into the camera. The video is then shared across social media platforms with the #MyAnxietyIs. With the help of the ADAA, the goal is to raise awareness as everyone begins to understand that anxiety is more common than we think.
