"This collaboration with Honeywell is another example of how Whirlpool Corporation is working to make the connected home a reality, with functionalities that are both convenient and purposeful for our consumers," said Brett Dibkey, Whirlpool Corporation vice president, brand and strategy in North America. "The capabilities made possible through this collaboration will help homeowners take the guesswork out of home appliance energy management while they're away, and bring peace of mind that their appliances are operating according to their personal preference."

Connection capabilities between Whirlpool Corporation appliances and Honeywell thermostats will be available in 2018 on more than 25 Whirlpool brand appliances. Functionalities will include**:

  • Opportunity for auto-adjustment to "away" mode on appliances when Honeywell geofencing technology detects a consumer is away from home
  • Ability to delay appliance cycles like dishwashing until the consumer is detected via the Honeywell thermostat app to be away from home
  • Managing the temperature of the home based on appliance cycles

"We're pleased to be collaborating with Whirlpool Corporation to help consumers keep their homes comfortable, secure and operating more efficiently," said Scott Harkins, vice president and general manager, connected homes, Honeywell Home and Building Technologies. "This integration with Whirlpool, a leader in the home appliance space, allows us to continue to offer homeowners an even easier, more seamless opportunity to make smarter decisions, specifically as it relates to energy use."

Announced this week at CES 2018, this collaboration further underscores Whirlpool Corporation's dedication to understanding what consumers truly desire for the smart home of today and tomorrow, and to bringing the best capabilities and functionalities to its connected appliances.
