AVL North America Focuses On ADAS and Automated Driving at CES

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Jan. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AVL announced today that it will be sponsoring the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) member lounge at CES® 2017 in the automotive area. The announcement was made by Don Manvel, AVL America's Chairman and CEO. "AVL has a history of anticipating industry trends and investing in ways that support our automotive partners wherever their challenges take them. CES is the perfect venue for an automotive industry driven by the current transformation in vehicle technology and usage."

According to Manvel, sponsorships like this have proven so valuable to automotive industry leaders in the past. "Our past sponsorships, whether at other industry events or here, at CES, provide a forum for thought leadership that goes far beyond everyday challenges. They offer a framework for true industry innovation, and we are honored to be a catalyst for those discussions." Manvel added that AVL's worldwide leadership in automotive development and testing has, for years, run a parallel path with technology, which makes CES such an ideal venue.

"We speak the same language," said Manvel, citing AVL's innovative ADAS and automated driving expertise, which includes new predictive and connected functions, sensor fusion, robotic driving, and simulation in conjunction with advanced testbed assessment. "What makes us different," added Manvel, "is the wide range of applications we offer as they relate to ADAS and AD, vehicle attribute engineering, and electrified powertrain development for both passenger and commercial vehicles with conventional internal combustion, hybrid or electrical powertrains."

Manvel noted that AVL solutions include e-axle systems and vehicle development utilizing AVL's all-wheel drive (AWD) test cells and simulation tools that allow realistic dynamic maneuvers to be performed in the laboratory, reducing development time and risks.

"What's especially energizing for us," said Manvel, "is the combination think-tank and automotive technology incubator that CES has become."
