High School and College Students Can Enter Now for $5,000 Scholarship Award Competition Honoring Outstanding Inventions in Innovative Technologies

NEW YORK, Sept. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The search is on for young, digital innovators.  Living in Digital Times announced today that it is taking its prestigious student scholarship program, 10 Under 20: Young Innovators to Watch, to the national stage at CES® 2017.

Winners of the 2nd annual 10 Under 20: Young Innovators to Watch awards, at CE Week New York.

"After the success of our New York program we, and our sponsors, are committed to giving young inventors from all over the country a chance to compete, visit CES and win important scholarship dollars. Recognizing ingenuity and rewarding it at an early age can be a life-changing moment for these students," said Robin Raskin, founder and president of Living in Digital Times.  "And what better place to receive accolades than from the center of technology innovation that CES is known for."

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Lenovo, Kay Family Foundation, Asurion, Dell and Girl Scouts of America, Living in Digital Times will honor ten students, two in each of the following five categories:

  • Appreneur Scholars: Original mobile apps built for phones, VR or other mobile devices used for education, productivity, entertainment, health or other applications.
  • STEM/STEAM: Projects that make advances in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, or math.
  • Maker-Related: Inventions or products that combine existing technologies and tools in innovative new ways. These projects should exhibit high-level creative thinking as well as technological skill.
  • Robotics: Projects that utilize mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a combination of these to create intelligent machines that interact with humans and their surroundings.
  • Socially Sustainable: Altruistic and activist projects designed to tackle social, political, health, or environmental issues and improve the lives of individuals or communities.

The awards ceremony will take place at CES 2017 at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC), North Hall, N257 on Saturday, January 7, at 1:30 PM.  Each winner will receive their award on stage at the live event. The ceremony will be part of a packed house at Mobile Apps Showdown, emceed by David Pogue, founder of Yahoo! Tech. In addition to the honor and invaluable exposure, each winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship and a high-tech prize package.
